Handahal Subbarao Savithri Handahal Subbarao Savithri

Handahal Subbarao Savithri received her Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. She determined the genomic sequences of several viruses and their strategies of expression to understand their mechanisms of infection. Dr. Savithri was conferred with P S Sharma Memorial Award of the Society of Biological Chemists in 1991 and J. C. Bose Award in 2008. She was elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore in 1992 and The National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad in 2000.

Veenita Bal Veenita Bal

Vinneta Bal obtained her MD from the Haffkine Institute, Mumbai. Her research interest includes infectious disease epidemiology, diagnostics, innate immunity to cell fate decisions in T cell, and macrophage biology. Dr. Bal is a well known scientist at the National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi. She was a member of the Prime Minister's task force for Women in Science under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
